Digital Switch Possibly Extended!

So it looks like the government is going to act to make sure everyone is prepared for the switch from analog to digital. Millions of people are being affected, but many still are not ready.

President-elect Barack Obama is urging Congress to postpone the Feb. 17 switch from analog to digital saying that too many Americans who rely on analog TV sets to pick up over-the-air channels will not be ready.

This week, in a letter to some of the key lawmakers, John Podesta, who is on the Obama transition team, said that the switch needs to be postponed largely because the U.S Commerce Department has run out of money for the digital converter box coupons. So, for people who do not have cable, satellite, or some form of paid for TV service, they possibly would be out of luck when it comes to receiving the $40.00 converter box coupons.(Converter boxes can still be ordered however without the coupons here.)

Now, ever since December, 2008, many local stations have been airing “test” channels in an effort to determine if viewers are ready for the switch and also get some of the kinks out of the system.

In the meantime however, if you go to order your coupons and funding is currently stalled, stay tuned here at DTVSwitch2009.com for the latest up to date news regarding new funding, when and if the switch will be postponed, and where to go if converter box coupons run out. As for now, if you want to get a converter box, we have researched the best converter boxes out there and you can find them here. Best wishes.
