How do I know if my TV set is analog or digital?

This is a great question. To answer it, we have to go back to 1998. Before 1998, most or all TV’s were the traditional analog TV.

However, there is a good chance that between 1998 and 2004, if you bought a big screen TV or a projection TV, then there is a good chance that a digital tuner was built inside. (Click here to learn what digital is.)

Prior to the year 2004, there were a very small percentage of projection TVs (generally those that were 42 inches or larger) that came with a digital tuner built in.

So, if you bought you new TV at or around the year 2004, then there is a good chance your TV is digital and not analog. To be sure however, check the manufactures guidelines on your specific TV.

So, since about 2004, most popular electronic stores have been selling TVs with a built in digital tuner so that when February 17, 2009 rolls around, those TVs will work.
