If I want a new TV set, do I have to buy a high definition TV (HDTV) to watch digital broadcast television after the transition?

Alright you must remember that as of February 17, 2009, this deadline refers to the end of analog broadcasting and the new beginning of completely digital broadcasting.

All of the newer TVs will have the ability to accept and interpret all forms of digital television. If high definition TV is what you’re after then you must have a newer TV that supports HDTV. (What is HDTV?) Many people think they are viewing HD when in reality there older TV does not support HD resolution.

If you currently have a standard definition TV (What is SDTV?) then all you will need is a converter box in order to view digital to analog over the air broadcasting.
