So, it is now official that the switch from analog to digital has been
postponed to June 12, 2009.
There were numerous concerns that well near 6 million people will not be ready
and fully prepared for the switch to originally take place on February 17, 2009. It is still up to broadcasters
to choose to switch from an analog signal to a digital signals prier to the new
June 12, 2009 deadline
however.
Remember that this digital switch will only affect people who currently do
not have cable, satellite, or some paid for TV service. If you fall into the category
of not having any paid for TV service, remember to get a converter box before June 12, 2009, so that you will
receive the new digital signal. We have a great selection HERE from Amazon and
hope this helps in your converter box purchase.
As we know, Congress originally mandated the switch to digital in an effort to
make better use of publicly owned broadcast stations and using those
frequencies more efficiently. The switch is also meant to free up the spectrums
for national emergency responder’s communications frequency.
So remember, June 12, 2009,
because this will be the new official deadline for the switch to digital from
analog.
