Do you live in an area where television signals are weak? If your answer to this question is yes, chances are you will be very unhappy when you hook up your digital converter boxes. It turns out that digital television requires strong broadcast signalsto work properly. A weak signal on the old rabbit ears and analog television may have had a “fuzzy” yet manageable picture, however a weak digital signal results in an unwatchable experience. You can think of digital television as either perfect or non-existent. If you have a weak signal, there will be a loss of data from the broadcast and will results in a choppy picture with pieces ofthe broadcast missing altogether. The best way to describe it would be to imagin trying to listen to a scratched CD. What does this mean for you? Well, your choices are to either attempt to invest in a rooftop antenna, or like me,you will have to give in and purchase satellite or cable television.
So I ordered DirecTV...
As my previous experience with our local cable company left me with much to be desired, so I thought I would give DirecTV a call. Three days later I was the proud owner of satellite television. It’s been a little over a month since I had DirecTV installed, and so far I am very happy with it. DirecTV also uses digital technology, however anyone that has a clear view of the sky can get a signal. With over 150 channels, HD, and TIVO I’m now wondering why I went so long with only the rabbit ears!
